Notable Work:

·      Obtained a complete dismissal of the class claims in a hard-fought $50 million wage and hour class action on behalf of a premiere fashion retailer.  In that case, Ms. Trotter also obtained insurance coverage for the costs and fees incurred by the client in defending the lawsuit.

·
Obtained a complete dismissal of a class action suit brought under the California Consumer Legal Remedies Act on behalf of a leading manufacturer of nationally- branded personal and healthcare small appliances.  In obtaining the dismissal, Ms. Trotter convinced the Court in a two-day hearing that the Consumer Legal Remedies Act Claim lacked merit.  Upon the dismissal of that cause of action, plaintiffs voluntarily chose to dismiss their remaining claims.

·
Obtained summary judgment in a suit alleging wrongful termination in violation of public policy and negligent hiring and supervision.

·
Obtained summary judgment in five separate lawsuits alleging violations of the Americans with Disabilities Act and related state law claims on behalf of one of the nation’s largest convenience store chains.  In addition to obtaining summary judgment, Ms. Trotter defeated plaintiffs’ attempts to recover their attorneys’ fees in each lawsuit.

·
Obtained terminating sanctions in a lawsuit alleging violations of the California Unruh Civil Rights Act on behalf of one of the nation’s largest convenience store chains.

·
Obtained a complete dismissal from the United States District Court, Central District of a declaratory relief action regarding the enforceability of a covenant not to compete signed by an out of state employee who subsequently moved to California.  Ms. Trotter successfully convinced the court that the declaratory relief action filed by the employee in California was an improper, anticipatory lawsuit filed for the purpose of forum shopping and as a means to avoid enforcement of the covenant not to compete in Ohio, where the employee previously resided and where the agreement was executed.

·
Represented a leading clothing manufacturer in a high-profile, wrongful termination/gender discrimination suit brought by a former executive officer of the Company.  Successfully negotiated a very favorable settlement on behalf of the Company and persuaded the insurance carrier to fund the majority of the settlement.
