Deborah A. Gubernick joined the firm after working for several years at Latham & Watkins as a litigation associate. She represents clients in various business litigation matters in federal and state courts. She has significant experience with intellectual property cases involving claims of false advertising, unfair competition, infringement, breach of contract, and related issues. Ms. Gubernick has counseled international and domestic businesses in advertising and marketing issues and has negotiated assignments, settlements, and trademark co-existence agreements. Her experience includes strategic counseling concerning global trademark portfolios, trademark clearances, prosecution of global and domestic counterfeiting operations, and prosecution of trademarks through the United States Patent and Trademark Office. She has assisted clients in oppositions, cancellations, and appeals filed with the Trademark Trial and Appeal Board. Ms. Gubernick is a member of the California Bar, the Orange County Bar Association, the International Trademark Association (INTA) and the J. Reuben Clark Law Society. Ms. Gubernick also worked for the United States District Court, Central District, Santa Ana, as an extern to Judge Gary L. Taylor (Ret.)
Education
Ms. Gubernick obtained her Juris Doctorate degree in 2005 from the University of San Diego where she served as Research Editor on the San Diego Law Review. She obtained her Bachelor of Arts Degree in English at Brigham Young University in 1994.
