For a fifth year in a row, Scott P. Shaw was named a “Rising Star” by Los Angeles magazine – a distinction recognizing the top two and one-half percent of attorneys under age 40 for excellence in the practice of law.

Mr. Shaw is a shareholder with Call & Jensen. His practice is primarily concentrated in intellectual property and employment litigation and counseling, with an emphasis in fashion law and action sports. He has represented plaintiffs and defendants in claims involving trademark, copyright, patent, unfair competition, trade dress, and trade secrets. He has also represented employers in all aspects of employment litigation, including wage and hour class and individual claims, federal and state discrimination claims, and wrongful termination. Additionally, Mr. Shaw handles a wide variety of general business litigation, including complex commercial disputes, business torts, and class actions.

Mr. Shaw has enjoyed success handling copyright and trademark lawsuits on behalf of both plaintiffs and defendants in federal courts across the country. Mr. Shaw was part of a trial team that obtained a $47.4 million jury verdict in a copyright infringement action. He also obtained numerous dismissals with prejudice on behalf of various apparel and retail companies in fabric design copyright infringement actions. In one copyright infringement action, the plaintiff agreed to dismiss the case with prejudice and pay Mr. Shaw’s client $20,000 to settle the case.

In addition to intellectual property disputes, Mr. Shaw has successfully represented small and large companies in general business and employment litigation. He served as co-lead counsel on behalf of a local retail apparel company and obtained a unanimous jury verdict in favor of the defense. Additionally, Mr. Shaw successfully defended a copyright matter for an on-line educational company in a multi-day arbitration trial and achieved a complete defense victory, as well as an award of attorneys’ fees.

Prior to joining the firm in March 2006, Mr. Shaw was an attorney with Jones Day in Los Angeles for approximately four years, where he handled a broad array of commercial litigation matters.
