Samuel G. Brooks

Samuel Brooks is a litigator, representing clients in a wide variety of disputes, including trademark, copyright, patent, unfair competition, trade secrets, class action defense, contract, employment, and other business disputes. Sam regularly advocates both for clients in need of a strong defense, and plaintiffs seeking to enforce their rights.

Sam is licensed in California, and primarily practices in state and federal courts in California, including the Superior Courts, District Courts, and Ninth Circuit Court of Appeals. Most recently, Sam became a member of the United States Supreme Court Bar. In addition, Sam frequently represents clients in arbitration, and in courts outside of California. He has been admitted (on a temporary basis for particular cases) in state and federal courts ranging from Alaska to Utah to New York. While Sam makes every effort to assist his clients in resolving their disputes quickly and efficiently, he approaches every case with a focus on positioning the case for a trial victory.

Sam joined Call & Jensen in 2009 as a summer associate while completing his studies at the J. Reuben Clark Law School at Brigham Young University. At BYU, he worked as Lead Articles Editor for the Brigham Young University Law Review, published with the Law Review and the BYU Journal of Public Law, served on the executive committee for the school’s annual symposium on law and religion, and worked as a teaching assistant to Professor (now retired Utah Supreme Court Justice) Thomas R. Lee.

Sam returned to Call & Jensen in 2010 after graduating summa cum laude and first in his class. In 2011, he took a year to serve as a law clerk to the Honorable J. Clifford Wallace, Senior Circuit Judge for the Ninth Circuit. As a law clerk, he helped Judge Wallace decide appeals on issues ranging from immigration to copyrights, contract disputes to criminal convictions. Sam again returned to Call & Jensen in 2012, and was elected shareholder in 2017.

Sam is a member of the Association of Business Trial Lawyers, the J. Reuben Clark Law Society, and the Orange County Bar Association. Beginning in 2014, he has been named a Southern California Rising Star by Super Lawyers magazine nine years in a row, and has been included on the list of Up-and-Coming 25 Orange County Rising Stars four times.
