Grady Howe is a trial lawyer who wins high-stakes cases in the areas of defamation and free-speech litigation, constitutional law, employment disputes, complex commercial litigation, and personal injury. A former Division I soccer player and UCLA Scholar-Athlete of the Year, Grady brings the same competitive intensity and strategic discipline to the courtroom that he once brought to the pitch.
Before joining Call & Jensen, Grady practiced in the litigation department of Troutman Pepper, where he focused on securities class actions and managed-healthcare disputes across the country. He is licensed in both California and Texas.
Grady has taken multiple cases to verdict as first- or second-chair trial counsel. He is equally comfortable on the plaintiff and defense side and has obtained complete defense verdicts against nine-figure demands as well as multi-million-dollar plaintiff awards.
Grady also teaches CLE courses on defamation, anti-SLAPP motions, and First Amendment issues. Grady represents athletes, coaches, athletic programs; private-equity firms; religious/nonprofits; and individuals in reputation-defense and contractual disputes.

- Complete Defense Verdict: In November 2025, Grady assisted in securing a complete defense verdict, following a three-week jury trial in Beverly Hills Superior Court on behalf of the late Gary Winnick in an alleged partnership dispute. Winnick faced a damages model that exceeded $100 million, but motions in limine excluded the anticipated expert, which reduced the potential liability to mid-seven figures. The jury returned with a verdict within two hours with a 12-0 complete defense verdict.

- $8.6 Million Verdict: In June 2025, Grady assisted in securing an $8.6 million verdict, following a two-month jury trial, on behalf of a former UC Irvine student and researcher who was subjected to sexual harassment, gender discrimination, and retaliation by her tenured faculty supervisor. The jury found both the professor and the Regents of the University of California liable. The award included economic and noneconomic damages.

- Complete Defense Verdict: In February 2025, an Orange County jury awarded loanDepot a complete defense verdict following a three-week sexual harassment and constructive discharge claim. The plaintiff’s pre-trial demand was in the mid-eight figures and featured in the New York Times, and the jury returned a unanimous defense verdict within hours of closing arguments.

- Complete Defense Verdict: In October 2023, Grady successfully first-chaired a complete defense verdict in Federal Court in favor of an individual client who was accused of making defamatory statements of the plaintiff on various social media platforms. The plaintiff asked for $1.8 million in damages. The court found in favor of Grady’s client on all claims, including his affirmative defense of truth of the statements in a resounding memorandum of decision.
Grady earned his Juris Doctorate from the UCLA School of Law with a specialization in Business Law. While in law school, Grady served as a judicial extern to the Honorable Kim McLane Wardlaw of the United States Court of Appeals for the Ninth Circuit. Grady earned his B.A. in Business Economics while competing on the UCLA Division 1 Men’s Soccer Team, and garnering the UCLA Scholar Athlete Award, which is awarded to the male student-athlete with the highest GPA in UCLA’s Division 1 Athletic Department.
