Peter Choi

Peter Choi is a Senior Counsel in the Labor and Employment Practice of Call and Jensen. He represents employers and management in all aspects of state and federal employment litigation and workplace compliance.

Mr. Choi’s area of expertise is in wage and hour class actions and PAGA representative actions. Mr. Choi has litigated and successfully resolved numerous class action and PAGA cases, including through contested class certification and other dispositive motions. He has successfully defeated class certification on behalf of putative classes involving thousands of employees and settled multiple cases on an individual basis where the plaintiffs’ demands were in the seven or eight figures.  Mr. Choi represents small “mom and pop” businesses as well as Fortune 500-1,000 corporations across a span of industries, including hospitality, healthcare, transportation, ambulance providers, and car dealerships, among numerous other businesses.

The depth of Mr. Choi’s experience has enabled him to obtain favorable results for his clients, including before litigation ensues. To that end, Mr. Choi maintains an extensive advice and counsel practice where he proactively advises clients on wage and hour compliance to minimize the risk of litigation in the first place. Mr. Choi also routinely represents clients in administrative proceedings, including audits brought by the Department of Labor and California Labor Commissioner. Mr. Choi has also been interviewed and quoted in various legal publications, including Law360 and Bloomberg Law, to offer his insight on significant wage and hour developments.

In addition to his wage and hour practice, Mr. Choi also regularly defends his clients against claims of discrimination, retaliation, harassment and wrongful termination, and provides advice and counsel services regarding proposed employee discipline, terminations and protected leaves of absence.

Prior to joining Call & Jensen, Mr. Choi was a partner at an AMLAW 100 law firm where he oversaw the wage and hour department for its Los Angeles office. Prior to that, Mr. Choi spent over 10 years working as a plaintiffs’ attorney and obtained favorable results for his clients, including multiple seven and eight figure settlements.
